Why isn't my landscaping website getting calls?
You do beautiful work. Your website probably shows it: big photos of patios, lawns and plantings. And yet the phone isn't ringing the way it should.
That's not your fault. Most landscaping websites are built to impress people, but the people never arrive, because Google and answer engines never sent them. Here's what usually gets in the way.
What your customers actually type
- “landscaper near me”
- “lawn care in [your town]”
- “patio installation [your town]”
- “who does yard cleanup near me”
Your website and Google listing need to give Google and answer engines a clear reason to show you for searches like these.
The usual reasons
1.Your photos say everything, your text says nothing
Landscaping sites lean on photo galleries, and that makes sense: the work is visual. But Google and ChatGPT read words, not pictures. If your pages don't say in plain text which services you offer and which towns you serve, they have very little to go on when someone nearby searches.
2.Google may not have seen your pages at all
Before a page can show up in search, Google has to index it. It's entirely possible to pay for a landscaping website that Google has never looked at. Nobody checks this for you, so it can go unnoticed for years.
3.Your Google Business Profile is doing the heavy lifting, or not
When someone nearby searches for landscaping help, Google often shows a map with a few businesses before any websites. That map is powered by your Google listing. If it's incomplete, or doesn't link cleanly to your site, you're missing where most local calls start.

Most people searching for a local landscaping business are on a phone. If the page takes too long to load, they head back to the results and tap someone else. Google notices that too.
5.Answer engines can't tell what you do or where
More people now ask ChatGPT or the answer box on Google who to call. Those answer engines read the text and structured data on your site. If your business name, services, service area and phone number aren't clearly stated, you can be left out of the answer.
A quick check you can do today
- Search for your main service plus your town. Do you show up, and where?
- Look at your Google Business Profile. Are your hours, phone, services and website link correct?
- Open your site on your phone. Does it load quickly, and can you tap the phone number to call?
- Read your homepage out loud. Does it say in plain words what you do and which towns you serve?
None of this means your site is bad or that you did anything wrong. It means nobody ever showed you the version of your site that Google and answer engines see. Our free audit does exactly that.
